Bethany Baptist Church – Mission
We believe that each of these functions is important:
Evangelism – The presentation of the Gospel in a clear, uncompromising, relevant way so our community may come to a personal acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We encourage evangelism through personal witness, lifestyle evangelism, and missions.
Exaltation – The practice of leading people to experience communion with God, which leads to an awareness of His holiness and grace. We do this in a variety of ways, through a variety of mediums, all to the end that when people leave the place of worship, their lives are transformed and God is glorified.
Edification – The practice of bringing people up to maturity in Christ. We do this through small groups ministries, prayer, instruction in the Word, encouraging service, and equipping people to discover and use their spiritual gifts.
Extending Our Disciplemaking Efforts – The practice of supporting our missionary endeavors through our prayers, financial support, and personal involvement.
Bethany Baptist Church – Core Values
Worship Matters – We believe that it is important for every believer to grow in an awareness of God and to find a way to worship Him that is meaningful, relevant, uplifting, and creative.
Missions Matter – We have been, since our inception, a church committed to cooperative missions. This includes not only generous financial support of our missionaries, but also personal involvement in missions locally and internationally. We channel our mission energies through three Baptist entities: the Pilot Mountain Baptist Association, the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
Spiritual Formation Matters – We strive to offer opportunities to nurture personal faith towards Christ-like maturity through regular Bible study, small groups, and through processes that enable gift discovery, development, and use through ministry involvement.
Fellowship Matters – A key word in our church is family. We make it our goal to welcome all who choose to come and encourage them to find a meaningful place of belonging through intentional community-building ministries. We are a diverse mixture of ages, races, gender, and class. There is a healthy interaction and inclusion.
Baptist Tradition Matters – We teach, honor, and preserve historic Baptist principles; we value our autonomy, the priesthood of the believer, and soul competency. We have historically adhered to the 1963 Baptist Faith and Message.
Stewardship Matters – We take Jesus seriously when we give ourselves to the wise and thoughtful investment of our resources for Kingdom growth – our time, talents, energy, and financial resources.
