Church of Christ At South Fork – About Us
We are glad to share with you some of the core beliefs that you will experience with members of our South Fork church family. These beliefs are rooted in the Fatherhood of God, the Lordship of Christ, the presence of the Holy Spirit, the inspiration and authority of the Bible, and the ministry of the church.
We believe that God is our Creator and Sustainer and that He loves us and sent His Son to die for the sins of humanity, that all who respond in faith will be in relationship with Him.
We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. We believe that Jesus died for our sins, that He was buried, that He was resurrected, and that He ascended to the Father. We believe that Jesus is coming again.
We believe that Jesus has given the Holy Spirit to be a presence among us.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the authority by which we live.
We believe that we are all saved by the grace of God through the response of faith, made possible only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for our sins. We believe that we respond in faith to this gift of grace by believing in Jesus as the Son of God and Lord of all; repenting of our sins and changing the direction of our lives to be pleasing to Him; confessing this faith before others; and being baptized in His name for the remission of our sins. We believe that throughout our lives we continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; to love and serve others as Jesus has loved us; to be shaped more and more into the image of the One who died for us.
We believe that Jesus is the Head of the church, and that the church is His body and carries on His mission in the world. We believe that God did not intend for us to face this life alone, but that He has given us a wonderful church family with which to share our joys and our sorrows, our successes and our failures, our triumphs and our burdens. Our desire is for everyone to have a place to serve in the work of the church, and that through our efforts all will be brought closer to the One who gave His life for us and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.
When you visit with us and join in one of our worship assemblies, you can expect us to sing joyfully to the Lord without instrumental accompaniment, to pray to the Father through Jesus our Lord, to share in the Lord
